Bald Archy - Tony, Norbert & Bob in Cootamundra

Australian artist AW (Tony) Scott attended the final day of the touring 2010 Bald Archy Art Prize exhibition at the Cootamundra Art Centre in November - but not as an exhibitor.
Tony went to Cootamundra with his good friend, Norbert Snicer, to collect one of the pictures on show. Norbert purchased a caricature of the former Prime Minister, Bob Hawke by satirical artist Jo Jo Spook at the opening of the Bald Archy at the ABC Centre in Ultimo in April. Norbert is one of the world's foremost electronic pinball machine experts, a published author and a keen art collector. His collection includes several paintings by AW (Tony) Scott and will now be further enhanced by Jo Jo Spook's depiction of the "silver bodgie."
The Bald Archy Art Prize is a parody of the Archibald Prize for portraiture and features humorous works of art, making fun of Australian celebrities and politicians and is promoted as the only Art Prize in the world judged by a sulphur-crested cockatoo named Maude.
Of the 91 entries in this year's Bald Archy, 45 finalists were exhibited in regional galleries in Bowral, Coffs Harbour, Brewarrina, Deniliquin, plus Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
Paintings include caricatures of politicians Peter Garrett, Bob Brown, Bronwyn Bishop and Wilson Tuckey, as well as celebrities like Nick Cave, The Wiggles, Dame Edna Eveage - and of course this year's winner, television icon Bert Newton.
